We installed a replacement sound system for the historic Radley College boarding school. We choose a discreet, multi-speaker system to complement the aesthetics of the room. Elegant Audica loudspeakers were chosen for their good performance and unusually small size.
One issue with the previous installation was poor vocal intelligibility due to the long reverberation time of the room. Instead of speakers on one side of the wall, as previously fitted, we employed loudspeakers on both sides which were angled down towards the seats. This meant loudspeaker volume levels could be kept low enough that reverberation did not overwhelm the sound. We also carefully equalised the system to cut frequencies which muddied the output and which enhanced the acoustic characteristics of the room.
Keeping the equipment as tidy and hidden as possible, units were rack-mounted inside a small cubby hole with easy accessibility and control for the user.
As with all challenging installations, we were able to offer an expert solution that pleased our customer and showed a clear improvement on the previous system.
